Tuesday's Tips 4 Pics

A VIDEO Home Inventory Could Be Life-Changing!

My sister lives in Texas and so I have been glued to the TV watching their unprecedented winter storm and praying for relief for those left without power, water and food. Not only have they endured a week without basic needs, but so many have also lost homes due to broken pipes and even fires.

We all think these disasters will never happen to us, but so does everyone who has ever found themselves digging out of a tragedy.

So if you haven't done it yet... please, please, please complete your VIDEO HOME INVENTORY! God forbid anything like this ever happens to you, you will need records of all your belongings to be compensated for your loss from your insurance company.

The more detailed you are the better but if you've never taken an inventory having something is better than nothing! Start by spending an hour or two taking a video of each room in your home and all of your things.

Once you have your completed inventory, upload your video to Google Photos so you can access it from any device if yours was lost. The beauty of a cloud service like Google is that you can access your account as long as you have access to a computer or smartphone, whether it's yours or not.

How to Do a Video Home Inventory

Then, if you really want to cover your bases you can complete a free "Home Inventory Template" (example) from any insurance agency to include items, year of purchase, price and value. I know it seems daunting, but I would imagine thousands of people in Texas right now wished they would have done this!

I truly hope you never need your inventory, but there's nothing to lose in making it! If you need more motivation, watch this short video.

I hope this email finds you healthy and well!

All the best,
